Area business projects approved for tax credits to bring almost 400 new jobs

Three area business projects have been approved for tax credits, bringing a total of 387 new full-time-equivalent jobs to Southwest Ohio, according to a joint announcement from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik.
One of the three projects is Weidman Electrical Technology Inc.. They proposed to start manufacturing transformer board products at a facility in Middletown in addition to their paper insulation manufacturing location in Urbana. The project is expected to create 105 new jobs and generate over $10 million in new payroll by the end of 2028. Ohio approved a 9-year, 1.726% Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
