A Turkish airline has made a massive purchase of engines from a GE Aerospace joint venture.
Pegasus Airlines and CFM International announced an agreement Dec. 18 for up to 300 LEAP-1B engines to power the airline’s future Boeing 737-10 model fleet. The contract also includes spare engines and a long-term maintenance agreement.
West Chester Township-based CFM is GE Aerospace’s (NYSE: GE) 50-50 joint venture with French manufacturer Safran Aircraft Engines.
Neither company disclosed the value of the deal. Earlier this year, Ireland-based Ryan Air in a media release put the value of its purchase of 20 LEAP 1-B engines from CFM at $500 million, indicating each engine was priced around $16.6 million.
