Butler County commissioners have approved a $5 million contribution toward redevelopment in Middletown’s urban core, creating a $15 million partnership with the city and the Middletown Community Foundation, according to a report from Business Courier media partner WKRC-TV Local 12.
The funding is intended to support redevelopment of the historic Manchester Inn site. Details of that redevelopment have not been made public.
Joshua Smith, president and CEO of the Butler County Finance Authority, said the project could help spur additional development downtown. “I truly believe that once we get a mixed-use development and a new park in and around the Manchester site, that will be the catalyst needed to reactivate – hopefully – 100,000 square feet of empty real estate,” Smith said in a news release.
Butler County Commissioner Donald Dixon previously said the $15 million investment would serve as the foundation for future downtown development.
