Startup of the Year:
Honoring the top companies and entrepreneurs in the region for banner achievements that push Cincinnati to the next level
2025 WINNER: 80 Acres Farms
80 Acres Farms, by some accounts, had a quiet 2024.
On LinkedIn, the company made few posts. CEO Mike Zelkind’s personal feed touts a few podcast appearances and events. On the news front, little was said, outside an acquisition 80 Acres inked last March, when it bought the Mother Raw salad dressing line, a bolt-on for its newly launched ready-to-eat salad kits.
Behind the scenes, though, the vertical farming upstart was quietly pulling in $115 million in new capital in spurts, pushing its total past the $400 million mark. It is now the region’s top-funded startup, ranking ahead of medical device maker Enable Injections.
